Pardes Actress Mahima Chaudhry Feels ‘Fortunate’ To Have Debuted Alongside Biggest Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Says It Exceeded All Her Dreams
Mahima Chaudhry, known for her iconic debut in Pardes opposite Shah Rukh Khan, recently reflected on her journey in Bollywood. The actress, who is preparing for her upcoming OTT release Signature on Zee5, opened up about her debut in an interview with India Today.

She recalled how sharing the screen with the biggest superstar of that time, Shah Rukh Khan, was beyond her wildest dreams.
“When you’re doing your first film, you imagine all kinds of things, but Pardes, I must say, was something that I had never dreamed of because my debut was better than even what a dream would have been,” Mahima shared.
The actress was full of gratitude for the opportunity, calling herself “fortunate” to have made her debut alongside SRK, who was already a massive star.
The actress humbly acknowledged that, back then, she wasn’t the most talented in the industry. She admitted that many others had more skill than her but counted herself lucky for the opportunity.
Mahima also spoke about how new female actors were often launched with new male actors, but her case was different. She felt especially blessed to have been introduced alongside Shah Rukh Khan, who was at the peak of his career. “I was fortunate to be launched with Shah Rukh, the biggest superstar of that time,” she said.
On How She Was Perfectly FIT For The Character
Mahima, who hails from a small town, reflected on how she resonated with the character she played in Pardes. She felt that her background helped her connect with the role on a deeper level.
“Although luck played a significant role in my getting the part, I felt I suited the character well because of my own small-town roots,” she explained.
Reflecting on the legacy of Pardes, Mahima shared how people still fondly remember the film. During the anniversaries of the movie over the past couple of years, she was invited to celebrations where fans would request her presence.
She noted how much the film is still loved, even by the younger generation. “It’s heartwarming that Pardes is still remembered so fondly,” she added.

Now, she gears up for her new role in Signature, where she stars alongside veteran actor Anupam Kher, Mahima is excited about this next phase of her career.
Additionally, she will be seen playing a significant role as Indira Gandhi’s friend in the much-talked-about film Emergency, though its release has been delayed due to certification issues.
