Mukesh Khanna Calls Ranveer Singh ‘Terrific Actor’ But REJECTS Him As Shaktimaan, Recalls His 3-Hour Plea & SHOCKING Reaction To Nude Photoshoot
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, known for his iconic role as Shaktimaan, recently opened up about Ranveer Singh being considered for the superhero role.
During an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Khanna shared why he ultimately decided not to cast Ranveer, despite the actor’s efforts to win him over.

Khanna addressed the rumours and explained how Ranveer approached him in an attempt to secure the role. He said, “I don’t take names as I am not supposed to criticise any actor. People get offended. But now everyone knows that Ranveer Singh came to convince me. I can’t hide that I had called him a ‘terrific actor’ and praised his energy.”
He went on to explain how the rumour mill started doing rounds about Ranveer being finalised as Shaktimaan. “People started posting pictures on social media as if Ranveer had been finalised to play Shaktimaan. Since, I hadn’t taken a call on it as I have a contract with Sony, I posted a video where I said, I have not said anything about the lead actor so please wait for sometime,” he added.
Actor Recalls Ranveer Singh’s 3-Hour Attempt To Convince Him
Despite praising Ranveer’s undeniable talent, Mukesh felt that the actor did not embody the qualities needed for Shaktimaan. Khanna recalled their meeting and said, “hat poor guy (Ranveer Singh) was sitting in front of me for three hours. But it doesn’t reflect on his face, what it needs to play Shaktimaan. He looks fickle as if he will con somebody. But he is a terrific actor. When I praised him I mentioned that nobody else in the film industry has the energy like him. But I haven’t approved him for the role. He must have felt bad. However, in the industry it is the producer who casts the actor not the other way round.”
Mukesh Khanna Recalls His Reaction To Ranveer Singh’s Nude Photoshoot
One of the key reasons behind Mukesh’s hesitation was Ranveer’s controversial nude photoshoot with Dirty magazine. “That photoshoot was a big reason for my aversion towards him,” Khanna admitted. “When I saw it, I thought, ‘Kya kar raha hai yaar?’ (What are you doing, man?).”
Mukesh also discussed his disappointment with Ranveer’s wife, Deepika Padukone, for her lack of objection to the photoshoot.
He said, “Ranveer told me he didn’t actually do it, claiming he was wearing underwear and that he had fired his promotional team. I believed him at first, but later remembered his statement to the media, where he said he was comfortable with it. I responded, ‘You may be comfortable, but we aren’t.’”
He added, “His wife was also comfortable with it, which surprised me. Most wives would have objected. Don’t be so advanced.”
Ranveer Singh’s Work Front
On the work front, Ranveer Singh has been busy with several high-profile projects. He was last seen in Cirkus, directed by Rohit Shetty. His next big role will be in Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn as the titular character, with a cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Tiger Shroff.
Ranveer is also gearing up for Aditya Dhar’s untitled project and has Don 3 in the pipeline, which has generated plenty of buzz in the industry.
