Ronit Roy recently opened up about his “painful” experience working on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (BMCM), following allegations of unpaid dues involving the film’s producer, Vashu Bhagnani.

The controversy has gained traction online after several cast and crew members voiced complaints about non-payment. Bhagnani, however, has pointed fingers at the film’s director, Ali Abbas Zafar, accusing him of mismanaging funds.

In an interview with Zoom, Ronit Roy shared his thoughts on the situation, revealing that he was fortunate to have received most of his acting fees for BMCM. He said, “The money was supposed to come from Vashu Bhagnani and it came from Vashu Bhagnani, but that happened only after Himanshu Mehra (who works with the BMCM director Ali Abbas Zafar) intervened.”

While Roy got paid, he highlighted that payments for his staff and security team were delayed.

He credited Zafar and his associate Himanshu Mehra for stepping in and ensuring these payments were made. “In fact, Himanshu and Zafar are now only going all out to see that maximum payments are done in minimum time,” Roy explained.

The situation has escalated, with Vashu Bhagnani claiming that Zafar siphoned off shooting subsidies from the Dubai leg of the film. Roy, however, defended the director, saying that his staff’s payments came from that same fund.

When asked about Bhagnani’s accusation that Zafar had essentially “hijacked” the film, Roy expressed scepticism. “Vashu was on the set every day. He is a veteran. It is difficult to believe how he did not realise that on the set,” he stated.

Ronit also talked about reports that Ali Abbas Zafar himself is owed over Rs 7 crore. Roy remarked that this was “common knowledge” within the industry. He remained firm in his stance, stating that the entire experience was deeply frustrating for many involved.

When asked if he would ever work with Vashu Bhagnani again, Ronit Roy’s answer was blunt. Laughing briefly, he said a firm “No.” He concluded by labelling his experience on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan as “painful.”

As this controversy goes on, the lead actors of the film, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, have yet to comment publicly on the matter.
