Mahira Khan’s The Legend of Maula Jatt Releasing In Indian Theatres Soon
Now, Mahira’s much-anticipated film The Legend of Maula Jatt is set to hit Indian theatres on October 2, 2024. This release is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time in over a decade that a Pakistani film will be shown in Indian cinemas. Co-starring Fawad Khan, the film will initially be screened in select theatres in Punjab.
Released in Pakistan in 2022, The Legend of Maula Jatt became a massive hit, raking in impressive box office numbers and claiming the title of the highest-grossing Pakistani film to date. The producer expressed optimism about its future in India, stating, “It has a great chance to become a huge hit.”
To avoid any controversy, the filmmakers decided to target the Punjab release first to assess the audience’s reception towards Pakistani films. A positive response could pave the way for wider screenings across India.
The Legend of Maula Jatt is a contemporary adaptation of the classic 1979 film of the same name. It revolves around the fierce rivalry between two iconic characters, Noori Natt and Maula Jatt, played by Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan, respectively.
