£75m-rated star linked with Chelsea and Liverpool could turn down Blues move
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in recent months.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and naturally, the top clubs are on securing his signature. According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea are keen on bringing him back to the club.
However, the England international could turn down a return to Stamford Bridge.
The report states that Liverpool could join the race next summer as well. Guehi will be in the final year of his contract in 2025 and he could be available for a more reasonable price. He is currently valued at £75 million and his suitors could find it difficult to sign him at that price.
Liverpool will need to improve the other areas of their squad and they might not be able to spend £75 million on one player. Meanwhile, they must start planning for life after Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch international is in his 30s and he will need to be replaced in the coming seasons. Guehi would be a quality alternative and he could form a solid partnership with Ibrahima Konate.
Chelsea could use Marc Guehi
Meanwhile, Chelsea have looked vulnerable at the back as well and they could use a quality central defender. The 24-year-old former academy graduate would certainly be a quality acquisition for them, and he could help them tighten up at the back. Chelsea will look to push for Champions League qualification and do well in the domestic trophies. They will need to improve defensively in order for that to happen.
The England international is well settled in the Premier League and he could make an instant impact at his new club. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next summer.
