Stree 2: Tamannaah Bhatia Felt It’s RISKY To Take Up ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ After Her Hit Track ‘Kaavaalaa’ From Jailer: ‘Will I Be Able To…’
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia recently opened up about her special appearance in the blockbuster Stree 2. She was seen grooving to the song “Aaj Ki Raat.” The film, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Pankaj Tripathi, has been smashing box office records since its August release.
In an interview with Grazia India, Tamannaah shared her thoughts on being part of this hit movie and the challenges she faced.
Tamannaah Bhatia Felt Doing ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ Would Be Risky For THIS Reason
Tamannaah, who previously danced alongside Rajinikanth in the viral song “Kaavaalaa” from the 2023 film Jailer, admitted that taking on the new song in Stree 2 felt risky.
“On the heels of Kaavaalaa’s success, doing the song for Stree 2 felt very risky. I thought, ‘Will I be able to top what I’ve already done?’” she said.
Kaavaalaa quickly became a global sensation, especially on social media, making her hesitant to take on another project so soon. However, it was Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik who convinced her to say yes.
“But when Amar met me and said, ‘I have this song for you, and it’s actually very crucial to the storyline,’ I just instinctively knew I had to do it,” Tamannaah explained. Her decision paid off, as “Aaj Ki Raat” has become a massive hit, with over 200 million views on YouTube.
Actress On Her Career Choices
Tamannaah also reflected on her career choices, saying that even though some roles were shorter, if they came at pivotal moments in the story, she was eager to take them on.
She revealed that she had once been typecast as the girl-next-door, but she intentionally sought roles that would break that stereotype. “I was never focused on the length of the part; all I wanted was for people to remember me,” she said.
In Stree 2, Tamannaah’s performance is being compared to Nora Fatehi’s iconic dance number “Kamariya” from the original Stree film in 2018. “Kamariya” became an instant chartbuster, and now, “Aaj Ki Raat” is following in its footsteps, contributing to the film’s success. Stree 2, also featuring Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana, has raked in over Rs 500 crore in India within just 19 days of its release.
Tamannaah was also recently seen in Vedaa, which was released around the same time as Stree 2. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the film stars John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh in the lead roles.
