‘Nothing Such Happened’: Honey Singh Rubbishes The Rumours Of Shah Rukh Khan Slapping Him During Chennai Express Tour

Sep 3, 2024

Honey Singh recently shared the backstory of his hit Chaar Botal Vodka during an interview with The Lallantop. He revealed that the song was born out of frustration while he was on a world tour with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in 2013, shortly after the release of Chennai Express.

During this time, Singh faced heavy criticism from the Sikh community, who accused him of corrupting their culture with his provocative lyrics. Despite the backlash, Shah Rukh Khan supported Singh, promising not to perform if Singh was banned from the stage.

Honey Singh On How He Wrote ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’

Singh explained that the idea for Chaar Botal Vodka came to him while he was in Australia after an intense performance. He recalled, “I wrote that song after drinking four bottles of vodka with two other people in Australia. I was deeply hurt by the protests, and after a particularly intense performance, my choreographer and dancer joined me in my room. We started drinking, and by the time we were halfway through the second bottle, I began creating the beat for what would become Chaar Botal Vodka.”

Rapper Reveals SRK’s Reaction To The Song

When Singh played the track for Shah Rukh Khan, the actor was surprised and advised him not to release it. SRK reportedly said, “Tu pagal hai, kya gana banaya hai. This will be a flop. Gaaliyan padegi tereko” (Are you mad? This will be a flop. You will get criticized). Despite this, Singh was determined to release the song.

Chaar Botal Vodka, known for its catchy beat and rebellious lyrics, became a massive hit, cementing Honey Singh’s position in the Indian music scene. Even though there was initial backlash and concern from Shah Rukh Khan, the song remains one of Singh’s most famous tracks.

Honey Singh On Rumours Of Shah Rukh Khan Slapping Him

During the same interview, Honey Singh also addressed a rumour that Shah Rukh Khan had slapped him during the tour. When asked about it, Singh responded mysteriously, saying, “I can’t answer this here. You’ll hear about it in my documentary on Netflix.” However, he then clarified, “Nothing like that happened,” putting the rumour to rest.

Honey Singh’s experience working with Shah Rukh Khan during the Chennai Express tour and the release of Chaar Botal Vodka showcased his rebellious nature and determination.

Although SRK initially advised against releasing the track, Singh’s decision to go ahead paid off, turning the song into an anthem for many of his fans.
