The drama surrounding Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan has taken a new turn. Recently, reports emerged that the family of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim was unhappy with the film’s producers, alleging that promised royalties had not been paid. The buzz even suggested that police action might happen in future.
However, the makers of Maidaan, Bayview Projects LLP, have responded robustly. They have issued a statement dismissing these claims.

According to the statement, “We are not in receipt of any notice from police/state authority as alleged or at all.” The producers also clarified that any reports suggesting legal trouble are unfounded.
In their statement, Bayview Projects LLP detailed that the legal heirs of Syed Abdul Rahim had previously filed a suit seeking to halt the film’s production and release.

The court, however, ruled against granting an injunction, allowing the film to proceed. Furthermore, the producers have complied with all legal obligations, including settling with the heirs in January 2020. Bayview Projects LLP has obtained the necessary rights and has reportedly adhered to all agreed terms.
Ameet Naik, advocate for Bayview Projects LLP, stated, “Bayview is in compliance with the consent terms dated January 29, 2020, and there are no outstanding dues to any of the legal heirs.” He emphasised that no official notice from authorities has been received.
In support of the film, Dr Faisal Zardi, grandson of Syed Abdul Rahim, and Sadia Hakim, wife of Rahim’s son, have both praised the film and the producers. They have condemned the misleading reports and expressed their appreciation for how Rahim’s story has been portrayed.
