Abhishek Banerjee Says Stree 2 Has Become A Tsunami, REACTS To Performance Of His Another Film Vedaa: ‘Paison Mein Naap Sakte Hain?’
Abhishek Banerjee is enjoying a wave of success with his role as Jana in Stree 2. His comedic timing and performance have been widely appreciated, making him a standout in the film.
On the same day Stree 2 was released, the John Abraham-Sharvari starrer Vedaa also hit the screens. Banerjee showcased his versatility by playing a negative role in Vedaa, which also received praise for his performance. However, despite the positive feedback, Vedaa did not perform as well at the box office as expected.
Stree 2 Actor Abhishek Banerjee On Film’s Success
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Abhishek Banerjee discussed the release of Vedaa and its impact. When asked if the film might have fared better had it been released a week later, Banerjee was candid in his response.
“I honestly don’t have the intellect to comment on it. I don’t understand the distribution and production side. I am an actor and what I understood is that August 15 is a very big date. All the producers felt that they’d come together and make a lot of money.
However, Stree 2 has become a tsunami. And nobody knows that a tsunami is coming. Aap expect thodi kar sakte ho ki itna bada toofan aayega,” he explained.
Actor Says He Is Proud To Be A Part Of John Abraham Starrer Vedaa
Despite Vedaa not meeting expectations at the box office, Banerjee remains proud of the film. He expressed his gratitude for the audience’s love, stating, “I am very proud of Vedaa. It has got a lot of love from the audience. Whoever is watching it has only good things to say about it. Also, some films have a long life.”
He added, “We might calculate it in terms of the business it does in one week or in three days. But there are so many films which became cult over a period of time. Let’s see what happens to Vedaa in future.”
The conversation then shifted to Bhediya (2022), another film in the same universe as Stree 2. Bhediya was released a week after Drishyam 2 and was affected by its success, but it later found a larger audience on OTT platforms.
Banerjee acknowledged the comparison, saying, “Exactly. Kya aap usko paison mein naap sakte hai? Now nobody remembers how much money it made. What people would remember is that when Bhediya made an entry in Stree 2, the whole theatre hooted. That shows the love the film has got.”
The actor also addressed recent rumours about his relationship with Dharma Productions and Karan Johar. He reassured fans that all is well, saying, “Yes. He’s a very big-hearted person. He’s also been there since so many years in the industry. I don’t think he must be getting affected by such small things. Hence, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Some miscommunication happened but now all is well.”
