Boney Kapoor FACES Backlash Again Over Payment Issues As Arshad Warsi Calls Out Producer For Underpaying Him
Ajay Devgn’s sports drama Maidaan may have flopped at the box office in April, but the film’s troubles haven’t ended there. Producer Boney Kapoor, already grappling with the film’s poor reception, is now facing fresh criticism. Before Maidaan hit the screens, Kapoor was embroiled in a legal battle over unpaid dues.
A vendor who supplied equipment for the film filed a lawsuit against Kapoor, claiming he owed Rs 1 crore for two years. The court ruled in favour of the vendor, ordering Kapoor to pay Rs 96 lakh.
The controversy doesn’t stop there. Actor Arshad Warsi has recently accused Boney Kapoor’s production house of short-changing him.
Arshad Warsi ACCUSES Boney Kapoor Of Short-Charging Him
In a candid interview on Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel, Warsi recounted his experience working as a choreographer for the 1993 film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.
Warsi was hired for a song in the film and was initially promised Rs 1 lakh for four days of work. He agreed to finish the choreography in three days, saving the production money. However, when he went to collect his payment, he found only Rs 75,000 in his cheque.
Upon questioning the discrepancy, Warsi was told that since he completed the job a day early, the payment was reduced accordingly. The production staff argued that the agreed amount was for the full four days, despite Warsi’s early completion.
Reflecting on the industry’s evolution, Warsi noted that today’s professionals often use managers and lawyers to avoid such issues. “It’s crucial to have deals and contracts in writing to prevent being short-changed like I was,” he said.
