Border 2 Update: Varun Dhawan Joins The Cast Of Sunny Deol Starrer After Ayushmann Khurrana Exits, Shoot Begins In November
Sunny Deol is set to return to the big screen in the highly anticipated sequel to his 1997 hit, Border. Following the massive success of Gadar 2, Deol will star in Border 2, which promises to be one of Indian cinema’s grandest war dramas. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, with Anurag Singh at the helm as director.
In a recent development, Varun Dhawan has been officially cast in the film, stepping into a pivotal role alongside Deol. This news comes after Ayushmann Khurrana exited the project following months of discussions.

Sources reveal that Dhawan’s involvement adds even more excitement to the film. “Border 2 is the biggest film of Indian cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role,” a source told Pinkvilla.
Dhawan, a long-time admirer of the Border franchise, views this role as a significant milestone in his career.
Filming Expected To Begin in Nov 2024 With Republic Day 2026 Release
The sequel is scheduled to begin shooting in November 2024, following the release of Dhawan’s Baby John in December. The film is set to premiere during the Republic Day weekend in 2026. The production team is focused on delivering an unforgettable cinematic experience, with extensive pre-production underway.
Meanwhile, Sunny Deol is currently filming Jatt with Telugu director Gopichand, while Varun Dhawan is working on Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumar and preparing for his father David Dhawan’s upcoming comedy project.
