The Bollywood superstar, known for his immense global fanbase, engaged in an insightful interview with international publications, discussing a variety of topics related to cinema. One question that frequently arises in these discussions is why he hasn’t ventured into Hollywood.
Shah Rukh Khan is often hailed as one of the greatest actors in Indian cinema. He has consistently focused on Bollywood, rarely showing interest in Hollywood roles.
Shah Rukh Khan Reveals Why He Has NOT Worked In Hollywood
In his interview with Variety, Khan expressed his admiration for American cinema, acknowledging it as “the world’s greatest and biggest cinema in terms of reach.” However, with a dash of humour, he added, “I hope I can speak English well enough,” showcasing his playful side.
On a more serious note, Khan elaborated on why he hasn’t pursued Hollywood roles, emphasising his commitment to his Indian audience. “I don’t want to sound uppity, but it should be a role worthy of the status the Indian audience has given me. It should not let down,” he stated.
Khan went on to explain the deep respect he holds for the love and adoration he has received from fans across India and the world. He recognises the responsibility that comes with his stature, and he doesn’t take it lightly.
Khan further mentioned that he hasn’t been offered a Hollywood role that meets his standards, nor has he actively sought out such opportunities. “I don’t have an agent there. I’ve not also gone looking for it, to be honest,” he admitted. For Khan, it’s not about just any role, but one that honours the immense respect his fans have for him.
SRK Dreams To Make A Massive Indian Film Like Hollywood Blockbusters
Beyond his career, Khan also shared a broader dream for Indian cinema. He envisions an Indian film that can reach and resonate with a global audience, much like Hollywood blockbusters.
“My dream is to get that one Indian film to be seen with the kind of audience that a big Hollywood film is seen, whether I’m part of it as an actor, as a light man, as a producer, as a writer, as a presenter. I just want an Indian story to be accepted worldwide, and hopefully I can be a small part of it,” he expressed.
For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan is prepping for his next film King with Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. It is expected to go on floors by October.
