Khel Khel Mein To Have A Sequel? Akshay Kumar Quips ‘Zor Zor Se Bolke Scheme Bata De’ After Fardeen Khan Drops Hints
Akshay Kumar is making a comedy comeback with his new film, Khel Khel Mein. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the movie stars Taapsee Pannu, Pragya Jaiswal, Aditya Seal, Fardeen Khan, and Ammy Virk. With the release date nearing, the cast has been actively promoting the film, and talks about a possible sequel have started buzzing.
During a recent chat with Pinkvilla, the cast shared their thoughts on the appeal of franchise films.
Akshay Kumar On How Viewers REACT To Franchise Films
Akshay Kumar pointed out that audience reactions to franchise films depend heavily on current trends and moods. He noted that just like with song remakes, the novelty factor plays a crucial role. “You never know time se pehle,” he added, suggesting that what might seem appealing now could change over time.
Fardeen Khan highlighted the importance of managing audience expectations. He said, “It’s about managing the expectations of our audience. They already like something, and you’re trying to give them more of something they’ve already liked, and that just helps in terms of getting your film out there and getting people to come and see it.”
Ammy Virk acknowledged the challenge of meeting those expectations. He noted, “So, you’ve to give your best, matlab zimmedari aur zyada badh jaati hai sequel banane mein.” He emphasised that while a film’s title might draw crowds initially, it’s the film’s quality that sustains interest.
Fardeen Khan Teases Khel Khel Mein 2
As the conversation turned playful, Fardeen Khan made a light-hearted comment about a sequel, saying, “We’ve already cracked the idea for Khel Khel Mein 2.” Akshay Kumar responded with a chuckle, “Zor zor se bolke schemein bata de logon ko,” hinting at the joke with a grin. When asked about discussions on a sequel, Fardeen clarified with a smile, “No, I was being funny.”
Khel Khel Mein is set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day.
