REPORT: Sarfira Actor Akshay Kumar Tests COVID-19 Positive for 3rd Time, Will Skip Ambani Wedding; Film Release Unaffected!
Akshay Kumar’s absence from the highly anticipated wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant has grabbed headlines. The actor has faced his third bout of COVID-19. This unfortunate health setback happened right during the Ambani-Merchant wedding celebrations.
This isn’t the first time it happened with Akshay Kumar. He first got COVID-19 in April 2021 and had to go to the hospital because of it. Then, in 2022, another positive test forced him to miss a significant appearance at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France.
Akshay Kumar’s COVID Symptoms Were Noticed During Sarfira Promotions
According to sources close to Kumar, symptoms began surfacing during his recent promotional tour for the film Sarfira. India Today reported that he started feeling unwell two days prior to his positive test result. Following the diagnosis, Kumar isolated himself and adhered strictly to health protocols.
Actor To Skip Anant Ambani’s Wedding
The timing of Kumar’s positive result proved particularly unfortunate, as it coincided with the morning of July 12, the same day as the Ambani-Merchant wedding festivities. His absence not only meant missing out on the “Shubh Vivaah” ceremony but also disrupted the final leg of promotions for Sarfira, which premiered in cinemas on the same day.
The Ambani-Merchant wedding extravaganza spans several days, featuring the ceremonial rituals on July 12, followed by “Shubh Aashirwad” on July 13. The star-studded guest list includes luminaries from various fields, adding glamour to the event.
Sarfira Release Stays UNAFFECTED Despite Akshay’s Absence
Despite Kumar’s absence from promotional activities, Sarfira proceeded with its scheduled release, marking a significant moment for the film industry. Directed by Sudha Kongara, known for her work on Soorarai Pottru, the film stars Paresh Rawal and Radhika Madan, with a cameo by Suriya.
The film has received mixed reviews from critics and fans after its release today in theatres.
