The movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which came out a month ago, has been a huge hit at the box office. It was Karan Johar’s comeback as a director after a gap of seven years, and it had all the features of a typical KJO film. It was full of comedy, romance, melodrama, and emotions, and the star duo of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt set the screens ablaze with their chemistry. Now, Karan has revealed how his latest film was linked to the classic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Karan Johar Links ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ to ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kajol’s Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is well-known for her red chunni, which had a crucial role in the film. She gives it to Tina, played by Rani Mukerji, when she decides to leave forever, knowing that Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) will never love her back. Later, Tina passes it on to her daughter. In Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the unfulfilled love story of Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi’s characters is at the heart of the film. Shabana ji makes a red scarf for him, which he holds on to for years. The red scarf/chunni could be Karan Johar’s way of representing the difficulties in love.
On Thursday, August 17, the filmmaker posted on Instagram the reference he made from the iconic film in his latest release. He showed one picture of Dharmendra from RRKPK with a red scarf and another picture of Rani from KKHH holding onto the red chunni, and wrote, “Some things never change……” Take a look:
Karan Johar Talks About Why Shah Rukh Khan Isn’t in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
During a interview,Karan Johar talked about his relationship with Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “Shah Rukh did a really important scene in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that meant a lot to me. I’ll always be thankful for that. But I can’t keep asking Shah Rukh for favors all the time. I have to be careful.”
Karan Johar also remembered how Shah Rukh Khan worked on a big scene for Brahmastra for 18 days without getting paid. KJo explained, “He gave his time and effort willingly for that scene. It was a big scene. If I keep asking him for more help, it wouldn’t be fair. Shah Rukh never says no to me, but I shouldn’t take advantage of that. I can ask him for help because we’re friends, but I shouldn’t overdo it.”
